Why Water?
The Power of Movement in Water
Water changes the way the body moves. Its natural buoyancy reduces impact on the joints, while its resistance creates a challenging environment for strength, cardiovascular fitness and mobility. The result is a remarkably versatile training medium—gentle enough for rehabilitation, yet demanding enough for elite athletic performance.
Whether you are learning to move again, maintaining an active lifestyle, training for competition or simply looking for a more enjoyable way to exercise, water meets you at your level.
Why Resistance in Water Is Different
Water provides resistance as you move through it—and the harder or faster you move, the greater that resistance becomes. This makes aquatic exercise naturally adaptable to the person performing it. At the same time, hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy create an environment fundamentally different from exercising on land. Depending on water depth and the exercise selected, the body can experience substantially less weight-bearing while still working against meaningful resistance. This combination is what makes aquatic fitness so versatile: support and resistance exist at the same time.
More Than Equipment:
Decades of Aquatic Expertise
The technology behind effective aquatic training matters. That is why AGD Fitness & Wellness partners with companies whose products have been developed specifically around movement in water.
Endless Pools® — Engineering the Swim
For decades, Endless Pools has focused on the science and engineering of swimming in place. Its adjustable-current technology has evolved through extensive product development and real-world use by recreational swimmers, coaches, competitive athletes, rehabilitation professionals and research institutions.
The controlled environment created by an Endless Pools system also lends itself particularly well to swim analysis, biomechanics and sports-science research. A swimmer remains stationary relative to the pool, allowing coaches and researchers to observe movement continuously and control variables such as current speed with a level of consistency that can be difficult to achieve in a conventional pool.
Today, Endless Pools technology is used across applications ranging from private fitness and rehabilitation to high-performance swim training.
Aqquatix — Aquatic Fitness by Design
Italian manufacturer Aqquatix approaches water from another direction: understanding how the body can train vertically within it.
Its expertise is closely connected with decades of development in aquatic education and the European Aquatic Association (EAA), founded in 1996. Through research, education and collaboration with aquatic professionals, this experience has informed equipment specifically engineered for exercise in water—not simply conventional gym equipment adapted for a pool.
Through concepts such as Vertical Aquatic Styles (VAS), Aqquatix has helped develop structured approaches to aquatic cycling, running, resistance training, functional exercise and rehabilitation. Its equipment is now used by aquatic fitness and wellness professionals around the world.
From Rehabilitation to Performance
What makes water remarkable is not that it serves one particular type of user. It is that the same environment can serve so many.
- A person taking their first steps during rehabilitation can exercise in water.
- An older adult can use it to stay active with less joint loading.
- A fitness enthusiast can use it for challenging resistance and cardiovascular training.
- A runner can cross-train without another day of pounding the pavement.
- A competitive swimmer can use it for precise, uninterrupted training.
Different goals. Different abilities. The same powerful training environment.
At AGD Fitness & Wellness, we bring together swimming, aquatic fitness, rehabilitation and recovery solutions to help our clients make more of the water—at home, in fitness and wellness facilities, and in professional training environments.
